Grasslands and Muck Show at Bath and West Showgrounds 10 May 2018
Maxam mowers were given live demonstrations at the Grasslands and Muck show held at the Bath and West showgrounds in Somerset on 10 May 2018. Suffolk Farm Machinery had a two acre site of standing grass which was mowed using the 3300IV Maxam mower. The tractor was a 130HP Fendt with a Reiter grass Merger (grouper) on the front linkage. Visitors to the show were impressed with the cut and spread capabilities of the Maxam mower, with many commenting they had never seen anything like it. Somerset is Southwest of London, and has a large number of dairy farms complementing the arable sector. Some farms have a wiry type of native grass that is very difficult to cut. In fact toppers will not cut it clean, resulting in bruised grass which regrows slowly. The Maxam mower should have no trouble with this type of grass – it sounds like the tussock grasses we have in parts of New Zealand.
